Welcome to a typical family apartment in Beijing, China! This is our home, for the time being, as we stay with a Chinese family.
In this video, we want to show you a typical family apartment in Beijing. We will give you a full apartment tour, reveal the price (we were shocked!), tell you the costs of living here in 2024 (including utility bills), and explain the different types of houses and apartments in China.
This apartment is located on the outskirts of Beijing, in a suburb called Wangjing. This is how people in China really live.

What are property prices like in your city/town compared to Beijing? 🤔❤️

I love young people to take a good risks in life and make their own choices and discoveries before they get old. I love all the young people that make healthy and right decisions then they have nothing to regret when they get older. Keep going with your plan and have a real good and happy future together.❤

1. The thing beside the ink pot is a miniature gourd melon. It represents longevity, after dessication, the peasants cut it in halves and use it as a tool to scoop up water. 2. The decorations on both sides of the doors are called Spring Couplets as they are always in pairs, the middle one is the word 'beatitude' in Chinese. They should be removed when the Lunar New Year is over but people are just too lazy to do so.😂 3. The house can be well decorated and spacious though the stairs and walls usually look murky. The proprietary ownership is usually 70 years but some are 40 years depending on the typing for accomodation. It starts to count when the building is completed.

Beijing houses are different from other big cities because there are all government departments in Beijing, and 30 years ago, most houses benefited from this. So, the local older generation will have at least one house for a child. Your apartment is not new and is lower than 6 floors without an elevator. The elevator for the other gate, which you are showing, is a project from the government to help seniors living in these kinds of buildings.

The gourd is a Daji Hulu, a good luck gourd. I'm thinking the red banners on people's doors are the slogans they write on red paper/ fabric wishing good luck, etc, on the home in the new year. (I'm also a Chinese language learner and look forward to when i can visit the country). Loved this video and just subscribed to your channel. Xie Xie nimen!

Insane cost of the apartment! Nice sized place, though. Thank you; great video as always. My first comment on your channel.

Living in the states, the cost of housing can vary from region to region. for example for the west coast is amongst the highest . A two bedroom apt. can set you back $2500 - $ 3500 a month . On the east coast it's between $1900- $3000 . The costs are ever changing. The middle of the country between $ 1800 - 2800 These are rental costs.
The average cost of a home where we (Richmond, Va.) is $300, 000- $400, 000. Your place looks quiite nice . A great find, a great video guys !
Sending love and affection😍😍 from Harriet, Jim and Yuki Richmond, Va.

Thanks for the tour of the apartment. It wouldn't be the best place for someone with an obsessive-compulsive disorder. For me it would be great. I was struck by the big lock on the front door, especially since I don't think there would be much insecurity there. I didn't imagine that houses in Beijing were so expensive. I hope to see Julia's calligraphy someday!! Love to both of you from Sasha!!

Wangjing is an expensive area, Volkswagen, Mercedes, bytedance(TikTok) and many other big companies’ headquarters are in Wangjing. The rent for that apartment is probably at least 8k yuan($1200). you can hardly get a one bedroom apartment in Wangjing for $600.
Average income in Beijing is slightly above 11k yuan, though there are many people making over 30k per month. So rental prices actually align better with average income than purchase prices. Housing prices in Beijing are inflated

I am loving the set up of the flat's and that tea set up. I want one of them lol. I hope the classes are going well. That's 820, 500 almost mansion mega house price for here in the states. That is a huge amount to pay for a flat. I'm just as shocked as you both are. Wow!! Then the mortgage on top of that! Yikes. I also love the fact that they are installing elevators. To make the flats more accessible to everyone. This was so informing I loved it. See you next time! Be safe have fun!
