Great work as always.
Simpler and cheaper is get some 1/2" lag screws about 8" long, screw them into the studs and grind the heads off, you know the rest

What studfinder are you using and is it accurate enough for you to trust it for finding true center? Mine isnt completely accurate for finding the dead center, and every screw I've ever drilled takes 10 times longer because i have to drill tiny holes on either side of the stud to verify exactly where it is.

Taking a real risk using that auger to drill your holes. Those have a tendency to pull the drill bit quicker than you expect. Someone with less experience could easily drill all the way through in error.
