solutions like this always make me feel like they're being solved wrong and the actual solution evades the presenter as well. I definitely like stuff that "feels" solved, not just is.

I don't particularly care for puzzles that involve rotation as well as translation, but I do get the idea that it's supposed to exercise your brain more than a puzzle that just does one or the other.

This is easy as you would initially think to fit the groves together and you're more than halfway from solving the puzzle.

the problem with all of yuu asaka's puzzles is they all follow the same formula. almost ALL of them involve rotating a peice

This is extremely inside the box though. That's like the most obvious solution I've ever seen to a puzzle like this. Like "oh so the pieces that seem like they fit together should be put together? really? are you sure?" and then when they still don't fit it's just rotate them slightly like that's not the first thing you'd do.
"You can rearrange them but still you won't fit them inside the frame" except the solution is literally just to rearrange them and then just slightly rotate them.
"You can do a crazy approach" aka thinking outside the box "but that doesn't solve it", of course because the solution is so simple that it's inside the box.
Not to mention that the puzzle is literally to keep it inside the box.
You've been outside the box for so long that everything inside the box seems outside of your reach.

How can thinking outside the box be the solution when the objective is to get the pieces inside the box. Outside the box is an automatic fail.

I thought outside of the box and put them on top of each other. This way you can fit not just 5 pieces, but 10, 20, 50, etc.
