Man, Murakami has to be one of the coolest anime characters that I ever seen. Not only does he survive attacks from chronos with only using a small amount of his power and only using the full weight of it when he needs too. Another thing I like about him is that his coolness feels organic. He's not trying to be a bad ass to impress people, he's doing it in order to survive.

No power of friendship and memories to save you, just pure power to overcome obstacles.

Old anime when friendship wasn’t a power. Good times good times

Only og anime fans will appreciate the best content in the late 80’s & early 90’s. Truly set the benchmark for the stuff 2 decades later.

love this. The oldschool style character designs, the animation style, the oldschool music. Love it all.

I love when I see shout outs to Guyver. Such a heavily slept on series, and its like people don't even know about The Guyver? We need David Hayter and Steve Wang to buy up some rights and make some shit happen!

Never thought YouTube would recommend a Guyver video to me. I'm pleasantly surprised.

What's sad is that this anime never really gets true respect. As far as I know this was one of the first anime made into a live-action film with a theatrical release, specifically for western audiences. The film had American actors, including Mark Hamil and David Hayter' and were made 20-25 years ago. Even though they were both kinda hammy, this anime and its live-action versions probably had a hand in putting anime into the mainstream of the US.

This reveal was nuts...completely blew me away as a kid and stuck with me for 20 odd years. I was like I dont know what that is but those enzymes are fucked. The suspense leading up to the moment, the epic beat switch of the ost, the transformation itself and Dr. Balcus' reaction just cements this as one of the greatest monents in anime for me. People grew up dreaming of being superman and batman while I was daydreaming about being Murakami and Guyver.

I have a feeling that I probably wouldn't even know the context to this even if I did watch it all the way through

I remember watching part of this series 20 odd years ago and renting it from Blockbuster after my younger brothers and I loved the 2nd movie. Completely forgot about it until around the time I finished high school and to this day I still remember the awe I felt when Sho's dad was forcibly optimized into Enzyme 2 and proceeded to brain his son. I love this series in all of its forms whether it be the original OVA Guyver: Out of Control, this OVA, the 2005 reboot or the manga (which need to finish I need to know how it ends) and even the 2nd live action movie. The only blight in my mind is the God awful 1st movie.
