In this video, we take a look at the Blum Ecodrill hinge jig designed for concealed hinges. It's pricey, heavy duty, and really good. It works with regular screw in style concealed hinges and Inserta as well. All with minimal effort! I'll also show you how it works and just how easily you can get your new cabinet doors ready for hardware!

Blum USA / Blum GmbH is named after its founder, an Austrian gentleman named Julius Blum. The name is pronounced exactly like the English word, "Bloom"

On the Blum mini press, they have stops set at 80mm, so the hinge holes are bored from the center to the edge of the door 80mm away. You are drilling 3-1/8" away, which is darn near 80mm. I just wanted you to know how accurate you were to their system, in case you didnt.

Nice job! …. But Wow, looking at the force you applied with your body weight, that Forstner bit seems pretty dull!

Can the cutters be replaced? Or does the whole unit have to be replaced once the Forstner bit goes dull?

Thanks for taking the time to make this video, and doing a good job making it. However, the CMT hinge boring jig is superior to this jig you used. It drills all three holes at the same time and can go on a drill press. I put stops on mine, with dust collection that goes on my drill press. I can do a door's 6 holes before you get both of your holes marked.

Why would you use this $370 jig if you’re not going to bore the 8mm mounting holes? I can see it if you’re going to use the Salice Rapido hinges with cam dowels or 8 mm plastic dowel plugs. There are much cheaper jigs that will just line up the 35mm hole for you. Kreg has one and a dozen cheep Chinese ones that work well too.
