Human strength varies so dramatically from average to strongest, that any mention of comparison that doesn't stipulate what they are comparing is pointless. The strongest people are probably 4-5X stronger then the average person.

in humans the strenght graphic is enormous, you have Eddie Hall lifting 500 kgs from the ground (he says he was able to tap into the fight or fligh response, but I think he only got like 30% into the reaction) and people on adrenaline lifting cars to save people, while others run for 42 kilometers, others lift a 5 litre bottle and get a hernia

so yeah, it actually really depends on the person, I'd say that on average we became weaker because we became lazy bastards

Next time: Gorillas are not as strong as you think"

All the damage from chimp attacks comes from their teeth. They can't beat you up, but they will certainly inflict serious wounds through nasty bites. Mean animals.

That's common knowledge, humans have an amazing endurance

They’re not super human strong, but they are fairly stronger than humans.

Surely the difference in muscle attachment locations will have a significant impact on the force imparted on actions? From what I've gathered, our muscles are attached closer to joints which I believe is more useful for bipedal locomotion, but sacrifices strength.

See Payne et al (2006) "Morphological analysis of the hindlimb in apes and humans. II. Moment arms" for a better description of what I'm trying to say.

What we'd like to forget is that they live in nature so they hunt their own foods, we have a choice to live a sedentary lifestyle or be an athlete so in theory if we lived in nature like our ancestors we have a chance (not quite win) to rival them I mean if you're fighting an animal, you gotta think like an animal.

Strength is also about the length and mass of muscle, the ratio of fat/muscle, and how much muscle is connected to the bone. It's not just about fiber density. Also there is an assumption of linearity, but in reality, being 1/3rd more fiber dense, does not necessarily mean 'only' 1/3rd stronger.

So a third stronger, yet many times lighter. Seems like a fair tradeoff.

If only LePage could do simple math: "1.5 times as strong" does not equal "a third stronger".

The person who made this should go test out that theory by wrestling a chimp and we'll see if its true

Thing is a chimp doesn’t need to fight for a long period of time in order to hurt or kill you

"Chimps aren't as strong as you think"
Then explains why they are exactly as strong as you thought they were.

Well, every creature is built to adapt in their environment and stuff. A chimpanzee's anatomy helps with climbing trees. A wolf's anatomy helps with hunting. A cheetah's anatomy makes them run really, really fast.

Humans? I'm pretty sure we're built for utility.

I've fought off a grown chimpanzee, if you grab their legs it really pisses them off and tires them out, they are stiff and strong but not over powerful and can be difficult to defend against if you have no combat energy

Chimps can't punch but they'll hug you to death cus their pull game is crazy
