On the world map for ASoIAF the colours were intentional for the trees, as it was noticed that below Asshai there is a continent full of these "Shade of the Evening" Trees...

Loving this series so far! Thank you for your hard work and keep it up. ♡

I've had a lot of fun listening to this series before, which like many out there brushes up on my own, though down a different path.

I definitely agree that wildfire is definitely a byproduct of petrified magical wood, and that the river is made of the same process, .

My personal theory is that it all ties back to "Flint", the unspoken gemstone that sparks a fire, and that the Shattering of the "Flints" created a lot of the important realms in the story, with just enough families called Flint on opposing teams to give us an idea of whats going on. In the end, it's a story about quartz.

The blackwood being hit by lightning is kind of interesting. In Elden Ring, Godwyn has a motif of black wood (deathroot) after death and also a lightning dragon motif during life. The eye color change has an interesting aspect as well (gloam eyed, "tarnished".) Sorry for the game rant.

Can't wait till the next installment!

If the black trees burn blue that could be related to Varys's story of his manhood being chopped off and thrown into a fire

Phosphorus might have something to do with wildfire. I don't know the chemistry but it's incendiary. I've seen a theory somewhere that phosphorus is what causes the Ash to glow and it's what deforms the Shadow People. I'm guessing there's a big second moon chunk in Stygai leaking it, probably that stone the Bloodstone Emperor worshiped.

Why is the water in asshai glowing green at night? It's the moonlight. The oil in the water is reacting with the moonlight. It is known that the moon cracked and birthed the dragons. This is symbolic for the actual use of moonlight when making the first dragons. In one of dannys dragon dreams, she steps out of a cave and becomes a dragon. Why is she stepping out of the cave to become the dragon? Not just for room to fly, but because the moonlight is activating the process. In her dream, danny also felt two rips in her back before stepping out of the cave. I speculate that she felt two dragon glass daggers being plunged into her back. Dragon glass daggers usually contain fire from the deep. Long story short, fire of the deep= souls of the dead= old gods=source of magic. In this case I speculate the daggers were used to house the soul of a wyvern and a fireworm. Anyways, the trees are connected to the deep ones/old gods/fires of the deep. So it fits the stories' themes and the established lore that the moonlight is activating the oil from the petrified trees in the water at night in Asshai. Great videos by the way! I cant wait to finish the series 👍👍👍
