Just sharing my ideas one of my favorite book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. This video may contain spoilers for those of you who are not up to date with the series. That goes for the HBO show and the books.

I'm just speculating and guessing on some ideas that I have on how future events will transpire in the series. Keep in mind however, I know nothing.

Martin needs staff. So many stories that can be told from this world.

Stygai could also be a reference to the Styx(stygis, stygi etc.), the river all the dead have to pass to enter the Underworld.

real shame we won't get to see this city in the show or in detail within the book

Holy shit, can HBO do a spin off on these areas? Dunk and Egg are good and all, but we've seen all of that stuff before. All of the stuff you covered is untouched potential, and infinitely more interesting (in my opinion). Great video btw, the insane amount of effort you put in really shows!

From a realistic perspective though, all this sounds like the consequence of a large meteor impact and/or a volcano eruption. The black stone, the ash, the "long night" ...

This is really good lore, and to think that the long night might've began in the East. And yet everyone is so fixated on Westoros. If there are indeed gods of that caliber like in Lovecraft, then the state of the world could be left open ended if left to the devices of them even if the curtains closed on our characters and their roles. It's actually something pretty deep to think about. You spend years interested in the characters and for good reason, but they're so insignificant to the powers that be. It's a shame this stuff hasn't been brought up in the show, maybe the insignificance of it all, but not this rich lore. Thanks for the video, please keep them coming.

Stygai, sounds suspiciously similar to Stygia from Robert E.Howard's Conan the Barbarian's Hybeorean universe.
Stygia it's a kingdom ruled by Sorcerer-Kings, who worship the Snake God and do all types of creepy black magic, human sacrifices etc.
Keep in mind, Howard and Lovecraft were friends and Howard contributed to the Lovecraft Mythos.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love your videos on the fringe elements of ASOIAF. Most of my knowledge about these places and events come from you, and I find them just as interesting as the actual story itself! I would love to see a video comparing the Last Hero and Azor Ahai, and just the difference between the two separate mythos, as well as their common elements!

These are great. I barely remembered the creepy cities. The sun and night dichotomy reminds me of ice and fire

I swear they could make years worth of spinoffs based on all the lore and stories in the GoT universe. I would love to see some of these.

I totally enjoyed this video- thank you. You've a great voice, btw, a trained voice, like a singer. The background music was the perfect touch. ❄️🔥

Basically, Martin created a fantasy world that beats any other created, and then forced us to spend the entire saga traversing its most uninteresting locations. None of the truly interesting places have been visited. Asshai. The God's Eye. The land of always winter. Sothoryos. Stygai. Yi Ti. The Five Forts. Qohor. I want to meet Moonsingers and visit the Church of the Starry Wisdom.

I love the fact that Yi Ti is somewhat a reflection of the history of Eastern Asia. The Bone Mountains alone acts as the Himalayas, the Five forts as the Great Wall, the Jogos Nhai as the Mongols, Leng Island as Japan/Taiwan, and even the romance of the three kingdoms legend also has an equivalent in the World of Ice and Fire.

"Yet the Great Empire of the Dawn was not reborne, for the restored world is a broken place where every tribe of men went its own way, fearfull of all the others."

There is, here, the meaning of the entire World of Ice and Fire!

The next spin off that's being planned should focus in Yi Ti.

I love these videos man, especially the ones where you delve into similarities between Martin's & Lovecraft's work, I haven't read any of Lovecraft's stuff but these videos have made me certain that I will soon. You're quickly becoming one of my favourite ASOIAF YouTube channels, truly great stuff.

I love this stuff! It's fiction but so well-realized. I'd love to see a series set in Yi Ti. Your reading of the text was very engaging.

This was awesome - I love how this book series could have so many possible spin-off series due to how rich the world and lore is

The city of Carcosa is also a Cthulu mythos, though not Lovecraft, reference, and the King in Yellow is an avatar of Hastur in Lovecraftian works.

I always thought that Yi Ti recovered after the long night, and was prosperous except for the wars and raids from the north, and only now are they about to fall into chaos from the three emperors trying to gain power.
