The Right to Learn Act aims to provide students in failing schools statewide a chance to succeed.

“If your child isn’t learning and they’re in public school then what are your options? If your child is unsafe while in school what are parents to do,” Delegate Mark Fisher said.

Delegate Mark Fisher a Republican out of Calvert County says House Bill 1027 would give students attending a failing school the opportunity to attend an alternative school whether it be private or parochial.

The bill classifies a “failing school” as one that’s been given one star for at least the prior three consecutive school years.

Stop blaming the schools. Most of the parents are just as ignorant, disrespectful, and have no interest in education as the students.

The schools aren’t the problem. Parents expect schools to feed, clothe, and do ALL the educating for their kids while they do nothing but stick a tv or tablet in front of them. Kids are supposed to start reading before they hit kindergarten, at least hit the first milestones.

If you don’t want to teach your kids anything, put them in a boarding school instead.

This won’t help unless the kids and the parents care enough for learning and safety.

in my country we have this saying, "we have parent at home and parents at school", teachers are parents in school and most parents told the teacher to do what they had to do (no abuse but being strict is what i like to called it).
