She's (mom) got it all twisted! My 1996 Toyota Avalon has approximately 550, 000 miles and still going strong with no major problems EVER!!! ALL the major parts are original. Foreign cars are the MOST reliable.

Girl I still have my honda civic from when I graduated in 2006 and it's still going strong it's my husband's work car.. I have had Toyota and Honda and loved them both. My husband is not a mechanic but he has been able to fix any small maintenance they needed himself.

Check Check out the miles on the car, & get a car report to see if it's been in a accident because looks good don't mean runs good. Engine and hoses. & fluids check is very important. No oil leaks etc.

Too bad his mom didn’t want a foreign car for him. Hondas, Toyotas and Nissans plus their luxury versions of Acura, Lexus and Infiniti respectively last forever. Go somewhere like auto zone and ask them to check the battery, too. Some new car dealerships will put old batteries in their used cars to save money and folks will check the basics but a lot of times won’t think about the battery. Plus an issue with the battery could possibly be an indication of other issues. Check on their warranty even for a used car. Three family members bought used vehicles within the last year and they all had issues within the first month or two. 2 were purchased from reputable new car dealerships in Atlanta and Tampa. The other was purchased at a used car dealership in North Carolina.

Looks great get a vehicle inspection from a mechanic if you can before purchasing it to make sure there’s no hidden damages.

They break down so much I'm glad I got rid of mine. They stopped making those kind in 2012/2013 ish.

FYI the battery is under one of the tires. My daughter has one it is a beautiful car but some things are hard to get to. Just a heads up. It is very pretty.
