Mackenzie exercises may be very effective exercises for people suffering from disc injuries and nerve entrapment syndromes. Used cautiously, the goal is to “centralize” the pain, or stop it from referring into the leg/s. For some acute, severe presentations, getting onto the floor may not be an option, making the standing exercise an effective choice. Trial this with slow repetitions of 10. If this causes too much back irritation, hold in the extended position for 1 minute. Make sure the leg symptoms don’t worsen.
