S. O. S. - Creamed Dried Beef on Toast

My version of Creamed dried beef on toast. Also, know as S.O.S. Or shite on a shingle. This delicious meal can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It can easily be done using powdered milk. It's very hearty and filling.
This was a dish that I grew up on and still enjoy it today as an adult. I do have plenty of favorite recipes and this is in my top 10. This is a great meal when you're practicing your bushcraft skills or in the wilderness, backpacking, camping, hiking, or biking.

Had this a lot growing up. My parents lived through the world war 2 era and I guess they learned to love it, and so did I! My mom would make this weekly as I remember. Been years since I've had this, but this sure makes me want to make it! Looks great and what a better way to cook it than outdoors!

In the US Navy, this dish was known as "Foreskins"!

Another alternative would be a package of Carl Buddig Sandwich Beef, and a packet of Sausage Gravy. With four slices of toast and one fried egg a piece, you could have a meal for two that costs about two dollars.

The possibilities are endless! 😄

Man, this brought back some good memories. Dad used to make Cream Chipped Beef with Mushrooms poured over English Muffins when I was a kid. Definitely a breakfast treat. Thanks for the video.

wow this brings me back... i remember when i was younger and one night i asked my mom what we were having for dinner, and she replied with "shit on a shingle" i was like wait.... what? lol. had it a few more times after that but then for some reason she stopped making it all together. i enjoyed it though. good stuff!
