for anything less than 80MW demand, it's not the transformer station... its the road carrying the power. The roads only carry 40MW, just build roads on both sides of the plant and it will carry 80MW. You only need transformer station after 80MW demand

At 1:35 when you placed the one power line before going underground you can actually go underground right away.

the first transformer on the geothermal plant is not needed. think of the roads in electricity terms like this: all roads, in terms of electricity, are super low flow. once city demands get high, they need multiple paths to pull power from the plants. either build another road towards where power is going, or use the high voltage lines from the plant, all the way to where a central power suck is, and then plop a transformer there and connect with high voltage lines.

big revelation for me, I didn't know you can do high voltage underground

Do you have to place trasnformers right on where the icon is or can you just plop them anywhere in the city and run cables instead? I've had this issue a few times now, , happens in the same 3 locations every time, so I've had to put a transformer every so often and the place is starting to look like a block full of them and it's getting too ugly.
