What's the point of the internet if we're not gonna utilize it with things like remote work??

they are stil offering remote tek work at amazon.. so mabey its the type that should be in office

Why should anyone cry for these people? There's a big disconnect between people that work in an office vs. those that have to be in the field, on the tools, running the machines, with the patients, etc. The same people that brought us monthly subscription based business models for software, customer service bots, AI scraping, promotion of fake news, scam ads, anti-social media, etc. It's refreshing to see people in "tech" get knocked into the dirt. Fire in the hole, let's home there's many more constructive layoffs with these people, we're in late stage tech anyways where there's no more good ideas.

Well companies are not stupid.

They know some workers are working multiple tech jobs and that cannot continue.

They also know that workers do the school run and other household chores while they should be working.

The workers have abused the trust given to them.

I have no problem with forcing workers back to the office.

How is commuting an excuse? The employee chose where they wanted to live. They balance commute time, cost, living space, etc. Only children think they can have everything.
