The Samsung Odyssey Ark has arrived. It’s absolutely disgustingly huge and cumbersome and just… well… I love it! It’s a behemoth 55” 1000R curve and 165hz. This thing is just nuts. But it’s definitely NOT for work purposes. It’s the ultimate gaming monitor!

So great to finally see someone review this from a productivity standpoint. I’d use it as a video editor, but the limitation with multiple displays in vertical mode, 60hrz and no usb-c port, I can’t even consider this. And I wanted to SO badly.

I really really really wished it supported multiple HDMI inputs at the same time.
Imigine 2 screens in the middle (2X 16:9 for game) and have the third on top (32:9 for general windows). No bezels.

I'll wait for the next version.

I didn’t know such a massive monitor existed 🤯 looks cool, but I just can’t wrap my head around using a curved monitor or a monitor that big in general

Wanted to change my 34inch and 38inch alienware monitors to this, I really was digging the vertical thingy for work and play but only able to use 1 hdmi in vertical mode is the deal breaker, also, my PC comes with 4 DPs and only 1 HDMI. All in all, I don't think samsung was thinking of gamers with this one nor the people who needs to use two monitors for their work. This is just a prototype launched for people, who likes gimmicks, it seems. Not intended for super users perhaps. Disappointing, honestly. But version 2 will improve upon this hopefully.

I've been through this problem with my 65" TV/monitor. You can't use it for PC without using huge fonts due to you having to sit far enough back to take in the whole display ergonomically. Bigger fonts means more realestate is taken up, thus is almost like having a smaller monitor but now you're sitting further back and you're inclined to whip out your reading glasses which will ultimately mess up your vision. So, the ideal work monitor is probably no more than 42", and if you find yourself requiring reading glasses then you have a much more bigger problem than finding the right monitor. Get your vision taken care of first... prescription glasses, no reading glasses at the monitor.

Very interested in this thing for work as well as multimedia stuff and gaming. Aside from the connect box that is way too big, the missing display port and the problem with it only being able to display 1 HDMI Input, I'm a bit worried if the 1000R curve might be a problem with stuff like Excel/Google sheets, diagrams and (stock) charts...

Great video, thanks. I cannot understand why anyone would get this over a G2 OLED or a Samsung or Sony TV. The only reason for buying a more expensive monitor than a TV is the Display Port. 🤷🏼

I'm also thinking about upgrading my 49" samsung to this 55" Ark ...but one limiting factor is the height. I have some cupboards above my desk and only about 65cm of free vertical space. What's the minimum height of this monitor ? (landscape mode obviously, and all the way down as much as possible)
