The trailer is bad; the movie is good. The movie is inspired by Madoka Magica btw.

Any theories about the missing pieces of the story?
*SPOILER*I think the old man had an intimate relationship with Barbara when they were together in school all those years ago, fitting as Barbara strikes me as an unstable female who’s willing to do the extreme to satisfy her shifting moods. This also makes sense as he was triggered at the fact that Barbara has fucked another old man just on a whim and that tosses the emotion aspect of their relationship for him which he holds dearly. Anyways, SOMETHING must have happened to Barbara as a teen of adult causing those scars on her body. I’m thinking this occurred while she was escorting under that Ada women. Now how old was she when she was escorting/got her scars? Probably as a teen because her math teacher, the old man, was aware of her misfortune and got revenge for her and simultaneously that Oscar guy in the mansion has heard rumors as well about Barbara’s past.

That ending was depressing as fuck. And rushed. And not believable. I loved the movie but the quality just dropped off a cliff at the end.

I know I'm late to the party. I just found this movie today and I think it's brilliant. Got some questions I'm hoping someone could theorize the answers to: (*Spoiler*)

1. Why did the math teacher kill the girl?

If he didn't want to leave witnesses and evidence, he could have done a better job wiping off fingerprints at the bar (Vendo machine, doorknob, check for security cams, etc.) Maybe the 3rd act was a bit rush and they didn't have enough time to go through every detail. But missing this makes it difficult to understand why he had to kill everybody at the bar.

2. How did the missing puzzle piece end up on the sidewalk?

I can only guess that the puzzle was bought somewhere near and the piece fell off the box. There must be a deeper meaning to it, otherwise, it's just pointless.

(Theory) The math teacher was clearly a pedo and was sent to jail for it. He must have hurt someone in the past for the sake of his love for Barbara. Completing the puzzle juxtaposes him starting fresh and fixing his life, hence, he got it as a gift getting paroled. When he realized that there was a missing piece, he didn't see the point of having it so he just destroyed it. We saw the missing piece was picked up by Luis, the guy who ultimately brought the math teacher's life back to shit.

3. Does Barbara actually know magic?

Barbara has psychotic tendencies (imagining throwing the baby out the window) but she never got better because she's been making her medications disappear. I think her husband knows she mastered this trick that's why he's very keen on making sure Barbara swallows her pills.

"Making things disappear" may have been a thing between her and her math teacher. I can only guess that she made the math teacher do bad things for her. Like, making people who get in their way disappear.

(Sorry for rambling. I wrote this as soon as the movie ended and I have not really pondered on it)

Saw it yesterday. Not as good as 'Diamond Flash', but great nevertheless!
