If you have been following along recently, you know that we sold our beloved farmhouse and are preparing to build our dream home on our new farm property. I’ve received lots of questions about why we bought a temporary home while we build and what our plans are for the future. I’m sharing an update on how the move went and what the next steps are! I’m also sharing encouragement for the younger mom. There are so many things I allowed myself to feel guilty about in my early motherhood, and I want to offer you perspective and permission to let those things go. Join me for this personal update and mini pep talk!

In this episode, we cover:
- Answering some common questions about selling our farmhouse, moving into town, and building on our new property
- My approach to caring for multiple small children at once without losing my mind
- Why our recent move was more stressful than I anticipated and how I tackled the chaos
- What I have learned over the years about managing the items our kids are constantly bringing into our home
- Getting into the practicals of how I dress my kids to spend ample time outdoors on the coldest of days
- Freeing you from the guilt that you are not doing enough for your kids
- The one homemaking task I never tire of

Lisa, I am a 69 year old grandma. I retired in 2021 from my job as a Christian school and church accountant in Oregon. I have been on a journey to feed my family healthy from scratch food. It's all because of Farmhouse on Boone! I want you to know that you have been instrumental in my life for the last few years. I couldn't even bake a loaf of yeast bread before. Now I am a successful sourdough Baker. My husband is 74 and he has lost 50lbs because I am cooking healthy. You are an amazing teacher!👍 I feel so bad for you and the not nice comments you have received. That's why I wrote. Just imagine how miserable that person must be to have to treat someone badly. I don't understand. Thank you very much Lisa! Nancy

That video with explanation of your move was in no way too wordy or lengthy. I loved it. Thank you!

I am one of 13 children. 12 girls, 1 boy. We never had 1:1 attention. I can honestly say, we did not need it. We had each other and Mom was the one who kept order. I also had older siblings who helped a lot. It was a good childhood

I have such admiration and respect for you! You are the Proverbs 31 woman come to life. I am single, your mother’s age and have no children. I do work a very intense full time job which I love. I know it’s not wise to compare but whenever I feel overwhelmed by all of my daily tasks I get stronger thinking of you and all you are and all you do with a husband, lots of beautiful children, moving, cooking from scratch and running your You Tube channels. I know exactly what you mean about the internet. I approach it the same way you do but I am thankful for authentically kind and wise young women like you that are here. I am very grateful that there is wholesome content like this to enjoy. Merry Christmas!

I agree with everything you said about the Internet. I have always marvelled at the courage of people who put their lives online. I think that protecting your kids' privacy is wise.

You talking about your experience putting yourself on the internet made me wanna cry. I'm praying for you and your family. You and your sisters have changed the way I operate in my house...my rhythm... my cooking and baking practices... it has all created more joy for me and less stress as I have learned from you all to thoroughly enjoy my homemaker life. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Thank you so much for standing up for your family. I definitely hope these negatives issues online can improve. It's terribly upsetting.

Hi Lisa, I just had to tell you how much I love your Q and A episodes. I"m a 62 year old married with no children and I still love hearing about your daily life with children etc. I love both your websites and follow both the POD cast and your Farmhouse Youtube channel. A lot of others try and copy you but they never come close. Thanks so much!

Amen to this honest wholesome advice! I have 3 children all in their 30s now. My only goal each day when they were growing up was to make sure we all connected at some point each day and they knew I was there for them emotionally if they needed me ❤

Good for you Lisa (on avoiding comment drama). I love your content so much... it has been so helpful as someone who grew up in the 80's finding their way to baking from scratch. Your whole demeanor and approach is inspiring and life-giving. If I could only choose one channel on YT to watch, it would be yours.
I'm glad you are doing things in a way that is sustainable for your family.

I SO needed this today! I think we, as moms, do put too much pressure on ourselves to do everything. Thank you for stating this so beautifully!

Yes, people are so rude online! I’m sorry for all you deal with by sharing. I really appreciate all you share! It’s such an encouragement to me!

I visited our house as it was being built almost daily- I was able to ask any questions and correct some things that would have been a bigger problem later. I would also try to collect the majority of your doors and fixtures ahead of time to basically pay for it once and even to avoid changing things out later. Moving a second time in a year, it will be very helpful to get the majority of all projects finished by the time you move in- I’m really happy for you and your family. Merry Christmas 🎄

I’m a mom of 8 also. I very much agree with you about keeping up with memories. I had a baby book for my first 3. For my fourth I received a calendar to record memories. There was no way I was going to record everything in a baby book and I did feel guilty but the calendar was doable. I hung it near the changing table. It also had stickers for milestones- super easy to mark the stuff I wanted to remember. I got one for all the kids from then on. It didn’t require a lot of time, I saw it every time I was at the changing table- which was a lot😊
