There's no better feeling than seeing someone like Aaron enjoy using Krita. It seriously warms my heart.

So important to have as well, people like myself who just can't afford the sub of adobe and huge license fees, especially when starting out. Having a free program that's more than competent and in a lot of respects can stand as a direct competitor is frankly astounding.

It gives us no excuse. Love Krita!

Aaron Blaise is proof that it’s the artist and not the program or tool pure talent

I've been using krita for my main drawing program for about 2 years now. To be honest I don't even want to "upgrade". I absolutely love drawing and animating with it, and it's free. Glad to see one of my favorite artists use krita :v)

I cannot wait for you to do animation in Krita. You will love it. It has everything you need to animate. Krita has timeline, onion skin, exporting.

First day at Krita and paints a masterpiece in an hour... this goes to show you don't need to pay an Adobe subscription to get it done at professional level.

I LOVE THIS!! You can pull your reference image into Krita so your not looking up and down visually, just click and drag it in and Krita will ask what you want to do with it. <3 I love this I started painting with Krita Last year (40 years of Traditional) and I love it! On top of the animation feature it now has a recording feature so you can time lapse as you are working and export it as a video. I've done 3 videos for my channel that way which I love because I don't have to worry about making sure the canvas is on the mark for the camera.

Krita is just amazing. It also has a quite complex Animation-Timeline.
Would love to see you trying the Animation tools it has.
It would be interresting to hear a professional oppinion, on how it stacks up to something like TVPaint.

For beginners and Hobbyists, that can't or don't want to pay 1000th of $ for a license, Krita is definitly the way to go.
+ Krita has an Android Version too.

A few tips. Right click brings up a Tool + Color palette and the Tab-Key hides the UI, so it is as distraction free, as it can get.
Holding "Shift" allows you to change the brush size on the fly.

Some comments mention the lack of a dedicated eraser but there is an eraser icon at the top so everything is an eraser. so much better. You are a master sir and it is a joy to see you use new software with wisdom, keeping your approach simple. Still as a user of Krita I kept yelling at you to right click, this will pop up a navigator, brush selector, and colour picker. Once the keys are learned you can fly with this software like no other. If you stick to PS that's cool, if you give this a try it would be a privilege to see your thoughts. I wish you joy sir. A pleasure to watch.

There is also a version of Krita for Android - the format is compatible, so I'm using it on my S7 Tablet on the go - and finishing up on PC. I love this software!
Happy to see that one of my artist heroes approves :)

Finally a useful tutorial for someone like me who has never tried digital drawing (only traditional pencil drawings) and wants to understand how to begin with a portrait in Krita. Thank you!

This proves a very important point. Most of the new generation graphics apps are inspired by Photoshop and Corel Painter. The gold standards of digital drawing painting. Krita is great and deserves the support of the artist community. If you know how to draw, it does not matter much if it's on a 32" large Wacom tablet, small 11" iPad Pro, or medium 13" Surface Pro. The lioness seems to say, Yo! Aaron, you missed one whisker on the left.

In Aaron Blaise I found my 'new' Bob Ross.
His voice and talking feels so calming and generous to me ... yet he also is super informative with many constructive and reasonable tips.
And he does it while being cheerful and humorous. :)

Thanks for all the videos!

I've watched literally dozens or more tutorials on using Krita. This one by an experienced artist using it for the very first time turns out to be the one I found most useful. Thank you Aaron...

Yeah!! One of my favorite feature of Krita is the pop up palette that appears when you hit the right click of the stylus, is really handy. :)
