About ITA Airways (from Wikipedia):
Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A. (pronounced [iˈtaːlia traˈspɔrto aˈɛːreo]), dba ITA Airways, is the flag carrier of Italy. It is owned by the Government of Italy via the Ministry of Economy and Finance and was founded in 2020 as bankrupt Alitalia's successor. The airline flies to over 70 scheduled domestic, European, and intercontinental destinations.[8] ITA Airways is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. Its main hub is Rome Fiumicino Airport near Rome and focus city is Linate Airport near Milan.

About Airbus A330neo (from Wikipedia):
The A330-900 retains the fuselage length of the A330-300 and the similarly sized four-engined A340-300. Cabin optimisation allows ten additional seats on the A330-900 (310 passengers) with 18-inch-wide economy seats. The -900 should travel 6,550 nmi (12,130 km; 7,540 mi) with 287 passengers (440 max). Delta expects a 20 percent reduction in operating cost per seat over the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft it replaces. Further reconfiguration of cabin facilities enables the –900 to seat up to 460 passengers in an all-economy layout. This exceeds the existing 440-seat maximum exit limit allowed by the type certificate, and requires a modification of the Type-A exit doors to meet emergency exit requirements. In November 2019, maximum accommodation increased to 460 seats, through the installation of new 'Type-A+' exits, with a dual-lane evacuation slide.

Italians just like me don't really care about ITA. We kept Alitalia afloat for way too long and we just pray that someone will buy ITA so we don't have to pay for its survival...

14:30 Hey Dan, don’t wanna seem rude but as a pedantic pilot I must say that those are probably the wing lights (they give proper lighting to the wings in case the pilot needs to look out a window and look for damage and other stuff), and not the landing lights. Sorry if this was rude!

Nice cabin interior. but I was also SHOCKED about the food, Italy has some of the best food in entire world I have ever had!!!!

7:08 the very first one is a Trento sparkling wine. It’d be weird to have champagne (which is French) in an Italian airline.

My experience of ITA was completely the opposite.. Great seat and meal even in Premium economy. Great wine selection and food in Business.
Like other said.. you don’t get champagne on ItA but you probably got a Franciacorta (Spumante - not Prosecco)

14:34 those aren‘t landing lights, but the wing lights. They are used to check for damage, mainly though for ice buildup. Also, they help to be seen by other aircraft.

15:25 those are landing lights

I just flew ITA economy for 4 legs in the past few weeks. Wasn't bad, wasn't amazing, however I was surprised that they had proper business class and premium economy seats for a short Schengen flight from Athens to Rome.

Dan. The lack of champagne is because Italians have prosecco. An Italian flag carrier would NEVER serve champagne over prosecco. The difference between the two products is actually related to how they undergo secondary fermentation

Hey Dan, I'm glad you made a video about my flag carrier ITA. I'm happy you enjoyed the seat. I've flown countless times with them and with Alitalia in business class as well and usually food in premium classes has always been the highlight of the flight as you were expecting as well. In fact, in business they offer series of dishes that are designed by renowned chefs and are usually executed pretty well. So, I fear that the special meal might have played a role here, as well as in other of your experiences, but I know this still shouldn't be the case. About the service, it's true that it can be a hit or miss as in other european carriers, but I've noticed that with ITA, especially compared to Alitalia, the "hits" definitely outweight the "misses". Thanks for your honest and funny reviews that I always enjoy!

"new" is a bit of a streatch, they basically are a rebrand of Alitalia...

I flew Alitalia about 10 years ago to Rome and the service was some of the worst I’ve ever encountered. They berated me about not putting my seat back in the upright position on landing when it was broken and when the flight attendant finally realized it was busted she didn’t even offer an apology, she just said “in Italy we have manners”. The fact that I still remember this interaction 10 years later says all you need to know about their hiring practices. Of course I’m flying ITA business class this summer again so we’ll see if it’s still terrible.

Interesting since I remember watching John Cahill’s take on ita like year ago and both dishes and crew were reviewed as really good especially the meals. Champagne is not aviable I guess because Italians and French don’t get along very well. Also on the other hand Italians are special when it comes to their behavior. I still think that any European airline is at list way better in terms of being less morally stressful choice unlike middle eastern ones.

Once again awesome video, I could just feel your excitement in the beginning, so relatable! The feeling right before you fly! Very well made video, 1 million subs soon, no doubt!

Ya know what? I love Olive Garden, it literally got me through me last training and was there for me when nothing else was 😂

I remember flying (coach) with ITA back in 2014, and remember being amazed at how bad the food was. Actually, "inedible" is probably a better description.

I travelled ITA this year from London to Brazil in economy class of course, the staff is not as much warm but the food is good and the interior design makes me feel so calm because I’m normally terrified to fly .. The only reason I would go back it’s because of the food and it’s proper comfort even in economy besides I couldn’t stretch my legs a lot

I love that you were talking about not being able to find the lounge while you were passing under a massive sign saying “Airline Lounges” 😂

Flew ITA from Rome to Riyadh a month ago - one and one set up (on which plane I can’t recall) - totally agree with you on the lounge - couldn’t find it and then, food amazing with fresh pizza - wow. Wine great. The business class was great inflight - apart from the food which was average. Bed super comfortable and entertainment on point - bravo ITA - off to Rome in September for a wedding and will definitely splurge on business again for the experience (and hangover recovery) 🎉
