Yes you do have someone on the ground at all times. They tell them to identify themselves remove any weapons then board them. This applies to air, sea, land rescue. Your not even allowed to have a weapon chambered unless your a trained crew member. They also require all weapons muzzle be pointed down at all times while seated on the aircraft.

So they pick up the pilot and leave the spotter behind? Now that's progress.

Really cool footage and all but what's with the guy literally lending a hand...? Or is this common for someone's, say... 'first time'? Also, aren't downed pilots usually (initially) treated as if they could be an enemy until they somehow authenticate the persons credentials?

In real life you dont have someone on the ground to assist you and hold your hands to get in the helicopter

They did this all wrong. You put the pilot into a plane that is ready to be decommissioned and/or sent to the boneyard, and you have a Stinger crew actually shoot him down! They get the training they need on a real, live target, the pilot get's to find out what an ejection seat feels like, how to land safely and how to signal for help. Then you send a helo out to find him. They get the training of looking for him without a preplanned scenario, and everyone wins! Right?
