I have a vague memory of meeting a woman as a kid who was really kind to me and she had a big tooth gap and to this day smiles with the gap just look extra happy and friendly.

It's called a diastema. One advantage is being a human sprinkler. Another advantage is not getting food stuck between your teeth. I don't have cavities.

And honestly, in some cultures, having a gap between your teeth is a signature of beauty and honestly, I think she looks beautiful with the gap. I’d keep it.

I also have a gap😢 but after seeing trends and people saying it makes people look unique i now do not feel insecure about that gap and i feel unique when i smile❤❤

A gap is not necessarily a malocclusion. I had one for years before deciding to get it corrected in my late 20s - that was a personal decision for me. But I did often get unhelpful and hurtful comments from people who would tell me I needed braces to “fix” my teeth which actually had nothing wrong with them - I have a perfectly normal Class I occlusion. Gaps don’t always have to be corrected unless they are interfering with function (speech/eating etc) - otherwise it’s a matter of personal preference and the aesthetics they like.

Closing my gap was the best thing for my confidence. I love that people in the US are becoming more comfortable with the gap, but I love my straight, no gap teeth now.

I've always seen those tooth gaps as beautiful. I've known a few people who have them, and they all have amazing smiles.
