How can I hear God's voice? - Ask Dr. Stanley

Dr. Stanley responds to the question: Does God still speak to us today? How do I hear God? And how can I hear God's voice?

I will never forget when I heard God's awesome voice. I was fasting and praying and our Native American Ministry was about to begin. It was so powerful. He spoke to the inner being of my soul and His voice is absolutely perfect. I will never forget. There was one other time when I was 13 and got hurt and I was dying. I couldn't speak but the Spirit of God told me to scream out for my mother one more time with all of my might, and I did and she came running and got me to the hospital. I'll never forget that. I gave my heart and Live to Jesus when I turned 19 and never regretted it. I love God so much He is Awesome and I praise His Holy Name. Thank you Jesus for what you did for us and I love you forever,

He makes thing very clear and edifying.

I've had a few times when God spoke to me but the one that I hold dearest to my heart is the first time. I was a teen. By this time in my life, I had endured much trauma in my life and I thought material things would make me feel better. Therefore, instead of asking for healing, I would ask for things that I thought would make me look valuable to others. Well, this particular episode, I was crying and saying to myself noone loves me so God couldn't truly love me, etc. And I remember clearly a gentle but authoritative voice wispered in my ear "Just because I won't do what you want me to do, doesn't mean that I don't love you". I know God is so Good. Despite anything I have gone through, my relationship with Christ has been the best part of my life.

When I got halfway through listening to this I thought to myself that Dr. Stanley wasn’t actually answering the question about how to hear Gods voice. But when he asked the question about whether we spend quality time with the Lord in worship and praise, also he asked if we only pray when we have a need, I knew immediately what he meant and just how far away I am from hearing His voice! Thanks Dr. Stanley!

Listening to God is one of the most challenging charges in a Christian's life. We find ourselves readily open to obey biblical commandments because they "simply" require an action (or inaction) on our part, but to have a spiritual conversation with Awesome all-powerful God seems so intimidating to believers that most avoid it for fear of "saying" something wrong or not knowing what to say at all. I pray that we all continue listening to God, and speak to Him through Jesus Christ's intercession.

Let me tell y'all, if you feel you haven't heard from him do not give up. It takes time for us to learn how to hear from him sometimes. He speaks clearly & plainly we just gotta ask him to help us understand. I am still learning to hear from him but he has spoken to me & continues to, just a quick testimony. It took a long time but it's more than worth it. Keep him in mind about all things 💙

I have had NO ONE teach me as a child about God....I had to learn everything the hard, hard way. Parents...teach your children while they are young.

I see subtle hints in nature when I am about to sin. It's almost as if he is telling me not to at that moment.

When God speaks to me it’s like an automatic download of information. It’s like not just one thing it’s the whole picture all at once. And quite often it’s something I’ve never thought of before. It’s hard to describe really

when Im driving on the road, the Lord always fly in front of my car with a bird like sparrow whenever there is a danger ahead and He is always right !!!

Personally, the harder I work towards righteousness and longer I refrain from sin, the louder His voice becomes. The more I talk to Him the easier it is to identify sin and be victorious during temptation. I've found that paying attention to the little things He likes, revealed in the Word, is a way to gain His favor. The mysterious ways He reveals things is refreshing and unmistakable. He is a loving God and also fun! Wait patiently upon Him, anywhere you go, anything you do, go in unshakable faith.

You know this was awesome, I have grown up in a Christian household, i just feel like I've been praying for years for him to speak, and I just feel worthless because everyone else in my church, and family is so in-tune to Gods voice except me (The pastors kid).. I just don't understand. I want to just walk with God. I feel like I've been pursing God and he doesn't care
