Quss ibn Sāe'da was a famous pre-Islamic poet, philosopher, and speaker well-known for his legendary wisdom and eloquence. He was one of the few monotheists who lived in Arabia before Islam.

After the death of his two brothers, he couldn't resist the grief and died shortly after them. This poem concludes some of his last words, recorded in Al-Bidaya wa'l-Nihaya (The Beginning and The End) by Ibn Kathir.

This was absolutely beautiful and eloquent! Jazakallahu khairan!

By the way, this is the first time I've heard of this man, and it's fascinating to hear that he was a monotheist! Do you know any sources I could read on him to satisfy my curiosity? May Allah bless you and this ancient poet!

Assalamu Alaykum. Can you make more of your own recitations similar to the one by al-Mutannabi and the other Abbasid poem about Ammonium?
