How Long Will This Driftwood Float?

Today I'm putting a piece of very dry wood in a ten gallon quarantine tank to see how long it will take for it to sink on it's own due to water saturation.

From my experience and online research... There's countless species of driftwood and they can be a variety of ages, and so waterlogging can take as quick as a week to more than a year. Good luck with this piece!

I had a few pieces that I wanted to sink for my native tank. I had them in water for over 6 months, and they showed no signs of even beginning to sink. I gave up. I still have the wood, and will use it in a vivarium at some point. I pulled the wood out of lake Erie. They were water logged when I got them.

Hey Dan I had a thought about uses for bird beak cuttlefish "bones" for aquarium use. Could they be safely used in a tank to promote snail shell growth, as well as be used for a puffer to gnaw on as a supplemental teeth grinding device/ What do you think?

You should weigh it and see how heavy it gets at the end
