Hip Replacement Explained

preview_player
Показать описание
An incision is made over the hip through layers of tissue, removing diseased and damaged bone and cartilage while leaving healthy bone intact. The replacement socket is placed into the pelvic bone, followed by a metal stem inserted into the top of the thigh bone and topped with a replacement ball. #shorts #animation #surgery #hipreplacement #anatomy #operation

If anyone is curious of what metal they use, the metal they use is titanium because it’s not corrosive, doesn’t cause irritation, 40-50% lighter than steel while remaining 5 times it’s strength, and doesn’t rust. These are the metal that is commonly used for some replacement more common is knee lower back and I believe hip as well.

A large part of my career as a radiology technician is pre- and post-op pictures of hip replacement. Mostly from planned arthritis hips but a good chunk of broken hips too, often the same operation. Truth be told it ain't all it's cracked up to be. Many patients got life long pain complications and more than a few get deep seated infections leading to more surgeries and extremely painful and prolonged life complications.
