The question of the day, can I insure a salvage restored title on my auto insurance? And the answer, it depends. And what it depends on is the insurance company that you have. There's going to be three different responses. The first response is no, we can't. We don't want it, go somewhere else. The second response is yes, we can insure it, but we can only insure it with liability. We can't insure it with physical damage coverage, which is comprehensive and collision coverage. And then the third option is yes, we can insure it, no problem. There's one caveat to that third option though, and that is let's say at the time of a loss, which means at the time of an accident, let's say it's a complete loss, and for example, let's say you have a 2015 Honda Civic and Kelley Blue Book says that's worth $15,000. Well, if that's a normal vehicle, yeah, you'd get that check for the $15,000 at the time of a covered loss.

But if it's a 2015 Honda Civic, and it's a restored or salvage title, obviously that diminishes the value. And the insurance company is going to take that into account when they're deciding how much to pay you out for that car. So you're not going to get full value payout as if it were a normal car with a normal title. But other than that, yeah, there are some companies that will insure it, no problem. So the answer really is check with your insurance company before you buy a vehicle with a salvage title, make sure they're aware of it, make sure they're okay with it. And, if you already have a vehicle with a salvage title, and you're thinking to yourself, crap, I never told my insurance company that, call your agent, tell him, make sure he notates it, and make sure that they're okay with insuring that vehicle. You always got to check with your agent and make sure they know everything to make sure that you have coverage like you think you have.
