More often than not, especially when I have a lot of videos to catch up on and very little time to do that, if the person doing a wrap up starts talking about a book which I sense they disliked, I skip that section because I'm primarily looking for recommendations. Not so with your videos because NO ONE does rants and shade throwing like you 😂😂👌
I'm so glad you had a really good reading month 🙏😃

Oooh, Children of Memory is going to make you weep. That book broke both my husband and me. 😭 Such a good book!

It was a great interview. I loved it, and hope you'll get to do more.

Children of Ruin disappointed me as well, but Children of Memory is great and really caps off the trilogy in an interesting and beautiful way.

I just started The Grace of Kings! It is my first epic fantasy, the rest of the series looks absolutely colossal. Wish me luck 😂

Yes, yes! I'm really excited for a video by you about world building versus characters! 11:40 Just yesterday I watched an amazing video by author and writing teacher Important Goose about why the banter dialogue in the game Dragon Age: Origins (2009) was amazing at simultaneously building the world, relationships, characters, and cultures in an intriguing and entertaining way. Highly recommend. I thank you both.

i had the same thoughts about the grace of kings but the sequel remedies all of that, its more character focused and specifically it centers on female characters . as a bonus its gay too

I read Blood Over Bright Haven last month as well and it was a book that made me actually sit up and gasp out loud, which is a rare reaction I always treasure. I loved its critique of white feminism as well by having it come from our POV character, someone we are meant to root for. Just brilliantly done all around, easily in my top 3 of the year.

Also, “spacefaring technologically-advanced octopuses” is a phrase that speaks to my heart, specifically, so thank you for that shout 🙏

16:00 Optimus Prime was my first crush as a little kid watching the cartoon here in the U.S. 🥰 I might have to add this comic to my Christmas list.

Can you do a book suggestions video that is about fantasy books that have great plot AND character writing? I like engaging characters with well written arcs, but i also enjoy twists and perfect climaxes

The Serious Light is awesome. Love to see you and Jen Campbell enjoying it. It also doesn't reflect off your glasses as much as the ring light. When you get the ring light fixed or replaced, maybe an umbrella filter or reflector - or something - could help (if u want to fuss with it). When I set up casual family photos, I bounce a table lamp's light off a white ceiling.

I loved your interview with Vandermeer! I’m definitely going to be reading The Southern Reach now.
I think you might enjoy A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland and A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows for achillean romantic fantasy. Also Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell but it’s romantic sci-fi. All of them have fleshed put world building and interesting political intrigue, which a lot of popular romantasy right now lack.

November was a very slow reading month for me. Lots of turmoil in the world and my life, and my focus as shattered, but I'm back to my usual now. I did really enjoy The Wrong End of the Telescope by Rabih Alameddine.

Children of Ruin is absolutely a retread but it was the retread I wanted. When I read Children of Time I thought the concept would be great with octopuses. Then Adrian Tchaikovsky read my mind and gave me Ruin so I can't help loving it while acknowledging it's not as great as Time

Blood Over Bright Haven has just popped up, translated, in a library close by. I take it as a sign! Kinda want to read Babel first, though
