Itโ€™s the unmodified ETA movements in watches that are 20 times more expensive than they should be thatโ€™s the problem

mallek
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

I thinks itโ€™s more the cheap generic movements they use coupled with the absurd price they sell them for.

colezahm
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

Someone has a stock of Hublots they need to moveโ€ฆ.

futuredk
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

It isnโ€™t about exclusivity, itโ€™s about quality. Their finishing is nothing to write home about, and they use generic ETA movements in 90% of their lineup. The issue is that the watches retail for 5-10x what they really should.

saint
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

I think itโ€™s putting a $300 movement in a $10, 000 dollar watch

tannerfreeman
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

Their 10k watches should cost 1k at most

fortnajt
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

They get a bad rap for selling a $1, 000 watch for $10, 000 - that's it. If they did something with their movements and created a master/cos-c certified decorated piece (like others do for $2, 000) maybe their branding would handle this price but as it is, nope, it's a sow's ear sold as a silk purse.

ะะฒั‚ะพั€

Itโ€™s my understanding that many watch enthusiasts view Hublotโ€™s products first and foremost as gaudy jewelry that happens to have an off the shelf ETA movement. Jewelry, not horology. Itโ€™s expensive for the sake of being expensive. Itโ€™s overpriced bling expertly marketed to new money

markegan
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

They are so reliable because they use a generic ETA movement. They are also cheap to repair since the watch making schools teach people with these movements. Thats the problem, nothing special about them. They look great but they cost to much for what you are getting.

Plenty of way better deals with brands like grand seiko, I hate to be the GS meat rider (although I am one) but if I had to choose im going with a GS every day of the week

joelstatosky
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

Charging $20, 000 for a watch with a $250 movement deserves all the hate

CoreyCore
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

People DO complain about Panerai. So apart from being a โ€œwhat aboutโ€ fallacy, itโ€™s also just incorrect.

tineye
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

The explanation Nico gave was good, I always had the question, pretty much cheap movements, and materials, then they overcharge you too much

rolandovaldesjr.
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

no, this issue is that they put standard ETA movements worth 150-300 dollars in watches that cost over 7000 dollars. for that price you should have nice decorated inhouse movements.

siem
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

Nico explained it multiple time why Hublot is no good.

TheEnabler-WXR
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

Although i completely get the hate for hublot, I donโ€™t get how richard mille doesnโ€™t get the same treatment

JustTryingToGetAYTPlayButton
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

Sounds like you both will have a Hublot in your daily circulation. I look forward to the follow up and unboxing. Think unicorn and think rainbow when you make your selection.

adolf-
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

From what I have ascertain from many opinions that a lot of people don't like Hublot because the watches cost way more than they're actually worth when it comes to the quality. Not to say that they don't look good but if they're using the same generic movement and they're charging five times more than a tissot RPX, then I can see why people hate Hublot. I'm sorry if I'm going to spend $10, 000 I'd rather get a vacheron than a Hublot

ehrenkrause
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

The fact is you canโ€™t move Hublot watches off the shelves without mass celebrity marketing and โ€œsignatureโ€ deals that use cheap movements that are marked up like crazy. Itโ€™s basically fashion watches on steroids for people with more money than they know what to do with.

adequatequality
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

A big part of Hublotโ€™s issues is the fact that they have several watches that appear to rip of other watches designs but also the fact they almost always use cheap 3rd party โ€œoff the shelfโ€ movements while charging a price consistent with something build in-house

anthonybariek
ะะฒั‚ะพั€

People definitely complained about panerai.
