Justin, the actual guitar part for this song is easy enough for 10 and 11 year old beginner students to learn.
I’ve taught this song to students and the original recorded part was really fun for them to play.
I don’t agree with the notion that beginners need to play acoustic guitars and learn “simplified” versions with open chords.
I had a group of 11 year old boys learn how to play Rock Around the Clock, Beat It, American Idiot and Everlong. They played these songs as recorded, not simplified versions. Budget guitars with light strings.
They were all beginners. Almost all of them are working guitarists now, ten years later.
