They used to play that over the loudspeakers while the "stock cars" did warmup laps around the Sunbrock Speedway track in Orlando. Flathead Ford engines with straight exhausts and "Rock Around the Clock" accompanying them! Great memory!

On July 9, 1955, Rock Around the Clock hit #1 on the Billboard Pop Chart. Many consider it the first Rock & Roll hit.

My beloved mother 's fav song ! We danced on it when I was a little girl. I still love this song more than half a century later. 😍👌🏻😉

This song brings back memories of my parents New Years Eve parties!! I loved watching them dance (much like the couples in the video). Thank you Bill Haley for your great music! ❤

Bill Haley. Born on July 6, 1925. Died on February 9, 1981. He was an American rock and roll musician. He is credited by many with first popularizing this form of music in the early 1950s with his group Bill Haley & His Comets and million-selling hits such as "Rock Around the Clock", "See You Later, Alligator", "Shake, Rattle and Roll", "Rocket 88", "Skin Minnie" and "Razzle Dazzle". Haley has sold more than 60 million records worldwide. In 1987, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This Song still Rocks! It has that thumping Rockabilly Bass and Backbeat! It kicked off the Rock n Roll Revolution that lit 🔥 the World 🌎 on fire! 🔥

There were Riots at Rock Shows back then! The kids got wild and went crazy from the beat! And the Adults got scared that it was the downfall of Civilization. It was just kids letting off steam!

But the lyrics implied that it was about sex and a one night stand and that was taboo and forbidden back then at least for teenagers.

And that’s probably why they liked it even more! Because forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest!

I remember when I was a teenager, I wanted to smoke,
drink and gamble. Once I turned 18, I didn’t care anymore because it was legal.

Then Elvis came along and he was dangerous! They way he shook his hips! He drove the women and young girls crazy! And boyfriends wanted to beat him up because they were jealous of him. He looked better than all of them.

By contrast, Bill Haley was safe as milk! I liked his singing though and he had a few hits. Shake, Rattle and Roll and See you later Aligator! Good songs that made Rock n Roll popular! Now it’s all over.

First song I ever sang in public, I think I was about 14 years old and when I saw the crowd they dragged me out on the stage (I didn't want to go) I'll be 60 this month and I'm still traumatized from that experience.

Bill Haley's story is the classic proof of how the image in the world of entertainment counts at least as much as music.
He came before Elvis or Jerry Lee Lewis, but if you are a 30 year old receding hairline, you cannot become a generational idol.

One, two, three o'clock, four o'clock, rock
Five, six, seven o'clock, eight o'clock, rock
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, rock
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
Put your glad rags on and join me, hon'
We'll have some fun when the clock strikes one
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When the clock strikes two, three and four
If the band slows down we'll yell for more
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When the chimes ring five, six and seven
We'll be right in seventh heaven
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When it's eight, nine, ten, eleven too
I'll be goin' strong and so will you
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When the clock strikes twelve, we'll cool off then
Start a rockin' round the clock again
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
