I like Rosa's dad. Regardless of what he thinks of his daughter, he still loves her very much. As every father should.

Deep down i feel there was no better actor to play Rosa's father than Danny Trejo, the more badass latino actor for the most badass latino character in tv

I’ve always thought this comes across as a very mature, genuine scene. It’d be nice if all parents could approach these subjects with that kind of maturity.

I really like it that he totally weirded out about it bc it was new to him but he is not rejecting her and is willing to learn and grow. I believe her mom will accept her too since she hasn’t said anything about disowning her. Some parents accept it right away but some parent need times to process.

The only stories I've ever heard about Danny Trejo are stories about how he has the biggest heart, I can't think of anyone better to play Rosa's dad :)

For me, the most admirable Dads in fiction are ones who dont always understand their children and mess up....but they TRY.
They are aware they aren't doing the best they should, but they are making a real effort to be better.

Rosa's father had a knee jerk reaction of denial to something his daughter was telling him about herself that did not match his world view.
But when given time, he recognised that this was important to her and something he could lose her over if he didnt step up. And he DID!

He still doesnt understand, but that isnt as important to him as making sure his daughter knows that he still loves her and wants to be someone she can rely on.

It makes too much sense that Danny Trejo is Rosa’s father.

If a single aspect of a person (good or bad) shocks you to the point you feel like you don't know that person, it's maybe time for you to step back and examine whether you've been viewing the person in front of you or the idea/image of the person you've held in your mind.

I pointed this out on a "TOH" clip, but this bit with Rosa's dad is exactly the kind of father and guardian I want to be for a family member. It won't be easy to adjust to, but I want them to feel trusted and loved

When my friend Kevin came out, his mom kicked him out. More parents should be like Rosa's dad
