Human Population and Resource Consumption

Thanks to technology, better living conditions, stable food supplies, and advancements in medicine, human population has increased dramatically in the last 200 years. Our greatest threat to ecosystems is our population. Each human consumes many resources that are taken from ecosystems. Some of the resources are renewable and can be replenished by nature. Replenishment takes time. Some of these resources are nonrenewable and in finite quantities. Once they are consumed, they are gone forever. The more people there are, the more resources we consume. As population growth and our need for resources continues to increase, we need to make sustainable decisions about consumption and environmental impact.

Excellent video! Simple to understand, accurate, truthful, etc. I don't understand why there are so many youtube haters for educational material such as this. However, if it was a video, with sarcasm, clownsyness, etc. those dislikers would be subscribing, liking, sharing and so on. Good thing there are people who share what they know in an objective and acceptable manner.

Habitat for animals is steadily disappearing. Why don't schools and colleges teach the importance of contraception? Who wants to live in a concrete box eating insects provided by corporate companies who have no interest in your quality of life only their profit margins for their shareholders! Already in Japan people are living in cages which are 6x4ft, in some cases smaller. Are we facing a future as the kept farm animal of a future conglomerate?

It's impossible to not deplete finite resource, because it is the nature of life to use what it has to gain a advantage and live. You have to use renewable. You need a new system of having a steady pace of replenish and consumption but die to increase of population so you will need to find a highly renewable resource while also looking upward s toward the stars for more space. A good place to start is the moon due to the high power solar power would have and the abundance of helium 3 to start on fusion reactors that are highly efficient and low emissions.
