Jacob deGrom might have climbed the highest any pitcher ever has in MLB history, but the brightest star didn't shine for very long...

2021 deGrom is one of the biggest what-ifs in sports history, man. Dude pitched 90 innings and still got down-ballot CYA votes.

“Fine I’ll do it myself” Probably Degrom going up to bat

I completely understand and don't blame him for being so upset about being hurt all the time. Just imagine how incredible he is but can't stay healthy. God bless buddy. We're rooting for you

DeGrom leaving the Mets literally felt like a break up.

As a Mets fan I can say I’ve been waiting for a 2021 deGrom video for a time.

Idc what anyone says, 2021 Jacob deGrom is the greatest pitcher in MLB history. He literally perfected his mechanics so well that a human body cannot sustain moving like that

People forget that Cy Young had over 300 losses. There have been many teams in the past that had the best pitcher playing on a poor team. They deserve recognition.

I've been saying it since he started getting knicked up. He needs to ease up on the velo. We know he has 102 in the tank but why not sit 96 and run 102 up there in a pinch

Very great video as always, but as a quick aside, the reason that Aaron Nola had a higher bWAR than deGrom in 2018 was because of the Phillies’s defense. bWAR takes into account a team’s defense when calculating a pitcher’s value. The 2018 Phillies were one of the worst defenses in MLB history as measured by DRS. Now the Mets also had a poor defense that season, but Philadelphia’s was war crime levels of terrible. bWAR credits a pitcher for having a bad defense, while also counting against said pitcher if they have a good defense. I’m not arguing that I completely agree with that approach, but that’s the main reason (combined with Citi Field being a pitcher’s haven that year compared to Citizens Bank Park being hitter-friendly).

Baltimore native here. How can someone say wins matter? With no run support. He only had a +3 era his entire career! Wild. Sub 2 era a few other seasons. That’s crazy

Thank you for the video.
It's rare these days to see any vids that justify any player's greatness without having to discredit other players.
This vid is beautiful and deGrom deserves every bit of it.

@starkravingsports should make a video about hitters who had the most success against the most elite pitchers in the live ball era

My dad got to watch Nolan Ryan, and Tom Seaver growing up. I got to watch Jacob DeGrom. He is the best pitcher I have ever watched in my life. I remember the stretch where he was Pitching like maniac and being legit the only hitter on the mets to score runs.

I remember that game against the nationals vividly as a nationals fan. We still had Soto turner etc and he literally made them look like a minor league team. Hats off.
