British Girl Takes a DNA Test! SHOCKING Results… 23andMe DNA Test LIVE Reaction - Where Am I From??

For my 21st birthday, my dad bought me a 23andMe DNA Testing Kit for Ancestry and Health, and I knew I had to film the process, with the results at the end. They were most definitely not what I was expecting!!

I documented the process from start to finish, taking the at home testing kit, and spitting into the little test-tube, to showing my live reaction to the results!!! The test revealed where in the world my DNA is from, along with some traits I'm likely to have - like sticky earwax lol. But it did also tell me I had a 95% chance of not having red hair 👀

My cousin has the same strawberry- redhead with dark eyes. I found it stricken phenotypes combination.Whereas the other cousin with redhead and light blue eyes (freckles) is quite the regular redheads. It is so interesting the texture of skin, both fair skin, the one with light blue eyes has a silky smooth skin texture, easy to wrinkle in comparison with the one with black eyes.
For the record, I was redhead too when I was a kid until puberty, eventually the hair darkened with medium brown (not a true redhead like you guys). Lol

I did one of those and figured I would come up with a lot of Irish due to the fact that I have flaming red hair, green eyes, and pale skin. Of course I did, very high percentage, but I also came up with 23% German which I did not expect.

British is not just british. The irish, the scots and the welsh are a very celtic population why the english tend to be more of germanic ancestry.
in early ancient times only britons lived in the isles, they were a celtic group of people who came from gallia.
then the romans took britian in the first century and romaniced the britonic population.
but when rome fell in the 5th century the germanic peoples also known as the anglo saxons from northern germany and denmark migrated to the isle and build the english kingdoms where england comes from.
They were pagan at first but then got christian.

a low % of scandinavian is also really common in brits because of the vikings raids.
but it could also be just a confusion because scandinavians are also germanic and not really that different.
same things with continental west germanic populations like germans.

My big bro did it and it said we're 0% Native American which is not true. My mother's side clearly had mixed blacks with Native American hair and facial features. Hair was black and straight and they never used a flat iron or relaxer in their life. someone even robbed some of the deceased relatives homes to steal Native American items to sell at auctions. I think I need to do 1 so we get stronger maternal dna results. Read someone that if guys do a test it yields stronger results for paternal heritage and vice versa. But even my dad's side of family claims a dmall bit of Native American heritage, though not enough on either side for us to claim being Native American. I think I definitely have a little English and Irish in me. We did pluck out a straberey blond hair out of our dark brown hair when we were kids so dna test confirming our research as adults later on was great

Scandinavian together with Iceland, that would mean you have Norwegian in you more specifically as that would make more sense historically speaking.

Also your dad's DNA is likely getting a different result, your results don't have to match his as you are only 50% based on what he gave to make you. If you really want to know, have both your parents do the same test and see how you fit in to the story. What you got from who.

Also the 0.1 North African is more likely a fluke, just giving you that as it might disappear or change to something else.

The person is LIKELY born BETWEEN 1940 and 1970, this however does NOT say "100% sure". You understood something that wasn't there.

Sending it takes 3-5 days, the testing itself takes a while and then getting you the right matches is a whole different story which could add even more time.

North Africa and the British Isles have had trade routes between each other for thousands of years.

the red-skinned or red-haired gene supposedly originates from ancient Carthage, today in Tunisia, after enslavement, the Carthaginians were sold as slaves throughout the Roman Empire...

This is your DNA it will not be the same as other family members. 0.1% means you are not this, basically

It's pretty simple, Europeans basically came from the Levant, North Africa (Berber type peoples), Eurasia and the near East. That's why you have fairly close up markers of them.

i wouldn't get too excited about the african thing . less than one percent is just like trace/background dna, probs been hanging round since a distant roman ancestor or a jewish person in your family tree can give you african genes

There is absolutely nothing shocking at all.😑

0.1% north African could be a throwback to the Iberian Peninsula invasion by the north Africans 711-1492, and then migration of those Iberians north into Scandinavia, Germany or France?

It doesn't necessarily mean you have any direct relations there, especially not at 0.1%, that's a trace value that could be a simple statistical blip in analysis.

It could be an echo as far back as Egypt or Rome.
