Introduced my cat of 2 years to my boyfriend,

Now they're a couple 😑

I don't understand why people say that cat training is difficult and painful... my cat had me trained in less than a week.

I've found a wonderful solution to this problem called LIVE ALONE. I'm the favorite human by default 😂😂😂

It's self-explanatory I would say. She spends the whole day with the cat and the boyfriend is only present at the end of the day. It's natural that the cat wants to spend a bit of time with the other person that he doesn't see so often. Especially because he has to be marked as he arrives with lots of outside smells. Another this is that due to different anatomy, different people make better or worse laps.

I think the cat is reclaiming his owner because he smells like the outside world.

His lap is probably warmer, cats are heat vampires.

It reminds me of my dad. He got so jealous of my cat not "liking" him that he eventually stuffed catnip in his pockets ^^

My boyfriend is the “animals should be treated like animals not like babies” kind of person.
I introduced him to my cats, Sylvie fell in love immediately, he started whining “why doesn’t she let me pet her?!”.
Damn her, She had trained my boyfriend perfectly, now they’re such a lovely couple. She’s such a fluffy cute traitor.

The cat is smart. He's dividing his attention between his guardians to prevent showing favoritism.

I brought my husband to the animal shelter to adopt a cat. He did not care and wanted nothing to do with it. I wanted a ginger cat so bad. The lady brought me the only ginger cat they had who was 5 months old to us in the play area. She handed me the cat on my lap. IT WENT STRAIGHT TO MY HUSBAND! And laid on his back for him 😭 I still adopted him but that cat follows my husband around. Lol.

I have a stray cat that I found about a month old outside and raised him. Now that cat follows me everywhere and cuddles with me. So I guess its only fair we both get our own cats.

Waffles hasn't stopped loving the young lady, he is just reassuring the human who has been away from home that he (Waffles) isn't going to hold it against him (the absent human). Our family cat did that regularly with me + my siblings when we got home from school - she would "abandon' our mother to fuss over us. She was a lovely sweetheart.

I feel his advice is good. It may also be that she spends a lot of time with her cat Waffles in the daytime so when her bf comes home - the cat just wants to spend some time with him too. The cat may not be picking favourites but spending time with both members of its hooman family .

I've noticed some pets just generally prefer the company of whoever is home less often. It could be because they missed you, or that they're cuddling to make you smell like home again.

I am laughing out loud and I get it, but in most situation the cat chooses and that's that.

I think our cat gravitates toward me because I don’t chase him, I don’t overwhelm him with affection, etc. He’s an INFJ like me. I let him come to me. I follow his body language.
He’s my first pet. Jackson, your books and videos have been a godsend. Thank you!

My girlfriend and I were at a friend of a friend's place and they had this fluffy cat. Neither of us had ever seen this cat before. My girlfriend is a super cat girl and was squealing and cooing at this cat and just doting on her.

I sit down, mind my own busy, and the cat walks up, sits in my lap, and takes a nap. My girlfriend shoots me daggers and I said, "Gurlfriend, the trick is to be the quietest one in the room. 😉"

My cat is a stray who came and stayed. He is the only cat I have ever had who has entirely different sets of affectionate behaviors for different humans. He will only sleep with my partner but will only jump up on the couch with me. He isn’t really a lap cat but I have a friend who comes over frequently and guess whose lap the cat can’t wait to jump up on? These behaviors seem to be consistent over time as well. I do wish he’d sleep with me and jump up on my lap, but I’m happy with what I’m afforded. Cats are my medicine and he’s the best!

My Cat takes turns in my family. She’ll adore me for a while, then Ignore me and switch to another fam member and back again, it’s like we get custody of our Cat for a time. lol

I will just say that Waffles is one mojito, happy, lumpy, floofy kitty.
He is clearly loved and clearly loves his people back. I don't think he has any concerns on whose lap or pets are more rewarding. :)

Could it also have something to do with scent? She’s home all day and he’s brining in new smells when returning.
