I know you said you want to choose g(z) so that the inequality is true but do you always want to choose it such that it will cancel one of the terms in f(z). 
Perhaps there's not a standard way but if I were looking at something more difficult, how does one go about choosing g(z)?

Nice video, slight problem at the end though. You showed that the function has no zeroes inside |z| < 1/2 and four zeroes inside |z| < 3/2. Therefore you proved that it has four zeroes inside 1/2 <= |z| < 3/2 (note the first inequality is not strict). You still need to prove that the function has no zeroes on the circle |z| = 1/2. I think this should be pretty straightforward using the reverse triangle inequality.

just in the future though, you talk fast, I had to stop the video couple of times because of it. You gotta slow down for people whos trying to understand this material.
