As someone who has commissioned dozens of pieces of art here is one piece of advice. Take every commission seriously and communicate clearly. Let me give you an example. I dipped my toe in trying out various artists. Who got the repeat business? The one who gave me a clear timeline and achieved those goals. They were not the cheapest or the fastest or even the most high profile, they demonstrated they cared and I felt like I was there top priority. I was so impressed I went back to them and received the same excellent service. So I went back, and back, and back. Every single time she delivered terrific art at a fair price in relatively timely fashion. Sometimes there was a queue and had to wait which was relayed to me. One time she got sick. This was always explained in clear, honest matter.
The lesson? Attracting new commissions can be hard at no fault of your own. There are thousands of artists and can get lost in the shuffle. Making commissions happy and potentially getting multiple repeat business is within your power. Serious commissions will happily pay extra to have a great experience.

I hate it so much when people say "your prices are too high" even if you see the quality of the drawing as bad and "not worth it" then dont commission them. Just keep in mind it takes that person time and they are getting paid for there time as well as the materials.

Another tip: Make sure you throw a watermark on each thing you send to the client during the process! Just to make sure they don't try claiming they made it!

I commissioned an artist and I got the silent treatment for 3 weeks... when they finally replied I joked saying “oh I thought you scammed me xD” then they called me rude. Okay then...

the only thing stopping me from making commissions is the fear of my art failing or people not liking my art and prices :((

I have an issue where I absolutely think my art is good enough to charge for, but I don't have the social media clout or reach to showcase it to an audience. I post to deviantart and artstation but all I got was crickets,

I recently got a commission request from a friend and that was real exciting. I just envy the people who built an online artist profile early 😣

Thank you so much! It's helping me alot c: The only thing I didn't like was the part where you explained why your fullbody costs 175+ $. You dont have to explaint it or even defend yourself in some way. 175 $ is a low price for such quality work! ^-^

What I'm worried is about when people judge that you are a self-taught artist and not worth it compared to professional artists... 😭

The only problem that stops me from starting an commission art is that how inconsistent my artstyle is. Mostly people with commission sheets has different artstyle options or just one artstyle.Mine is just different every work. It still goes around semi-realism but every drawing I do always looks so different 🥲

I have commissioned Nadia a couple of times now, and I can honestly say that this way of doing commissions really works, it has been a pleasure every time.

Super fin video! Dit layout, de små tegninger og hele videoen er bare super godt sat sammen.

I don’t know why i am watching this. My art is still lacking in the foundation so i need to wait for at least 5 years before i actually do commissions
