Asus showed up to win at #CES2025, and it has multiple CES product category awards to prove it. Gamers familiar with the ROG brand already know to expect great things, and the latest ROG Strix SCAR laptops don’t disappoint. Both 16” and 18” varieties come packed with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 275HX and RTX 5090 graphics, and feature an innovative latch mechanism allowing users to quickly and easily remove the bottom panel for memory and storage upgrades. The ROG NUC is back and better than ever with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 285HX and RTX 5080 laptop GPU, and up to 96GB of memory. We also see several new Z890 and B860 motherboards, including the latest iteration of the ROG Maximus Z890 Hero BTF which that won an award as the best motherboard of CES 2025.

That’s all good and all, but I still haven’t seen any videos of the 2025 ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 running any of the latest PC games. Showcasing this beast at CES 2025, and all ASUS have got running on it is a video slideshow. At least let folk play some of the latest PC games on it, preferably ones featuring ray-tracing/path-tracing graphics effects

Other than that, awesome gaming laptop, I’ll go ahead and pre-order it as soon as I’m able to <3

… And the gold award for most pointless and useless feature goes to ASUS for that AniMe Matrix™ Dot Display on the top-lid of that new 2025 ROG Strix SCAR 18 gaming laptop

… Sorry, but it had to be done. It is a rather useless and gimmicky feature on the laptop, that would likely only be used a couple of times, usually when the owner is bored. Same goes for the underside RGB lighting. Both are practically useless features to have imo, and were likely added to the laptop as an afterthought, rather than being anything meaningful. Perhaps it’s supposed to be impressive to look, I don’t know. All I know is, is that it’s probably a waste of electricity to most folk

The keyboard RGB lighting is a big deal though, that’s very useful for when using the laptop in pitch darkness

ASUS needs to provide more display outputs (especially TB4) on their NUG products please! Lenovo ThinkCentre neo Ultra provides up to 8 displays.
