KLH Model Eight ~ Restoration Part 6 (FINAL) ~ Cabinet Refinishing & Final Touches

In this final segment of the KLH Model Eight restoration series I review detailing the faceplate, refinishing the cabinets, and replacing the power cord.

Some general notes following a discussion with the author or the restoration document:
* Please note that the front face of the cabinets is not solid walnut, a veneer is used to cover the corner joints so be careful while sanding the front edge.
* The power cord does indeed act as an antenna. The type of cord and length should be selected to mimic the original as close as possible to optimize performance.

Beautiful job - this was my grandfather's radio for my whole life, in my grandparent's apt. in Brooklyn, but after he died about 20 years ago it was mostly in storage and it's really nice to see it so nicely restored and with a new life. So a shout out to you and also to my grandpa Michael Weinberg who had great taste in audio gear. Thanks for documenting this process. Enjoy it!

Another outstanding project complete. Well done as usual. Will this unit be going up for sale at Skyfi Audio or on your eBay site or will you be keeping it for yourself? It's a beautiful piece, so it may be hard to part with.
