In this video we carry out a refurbishment on this tired looking set of early 1980's KLH 2-way stereo speakers.
This includes replacing the damaged lower speaker cone foams, Re-covering the box case outer wood veneer & Re-finished the front texture face.
All of this whilst trying to maintain the original appearance of the units and keeping them going for years to come.
As usual we aim to keep as much of the original components as possible, Only replacing the necessary parts.

Vintage & retro audio equipment is getting more and more collectible.
These particular speakers are in good working order when it comes to sound output. However, They are let down by the physical condition that they are in.
Obviously with any older Hi-Fi equipment, They need servicing to keep working as they were intended.
Restoring these speakers back to how they should be, Keeps them alive for people to appreciate this era of audio equipment.

This model 331 was an updated version of the model 31. I got the KLH 31's in 1975 with a BIC-920 turntable (Shure M70 pickup) and Pioneer SX-434 (15wpc) receiver all for under $240. My first "component" hifi system. The 31's definitely had the East Coast sound popular during the 1970's. Nice video.
