Want a better strategy? Use thrust stance. The forceful thrust will auto target his head. A few of those and he will fall to the ground stunned.

The attack where he grabs you in his jaws and takes out 99% of your health (but never kills you) is actually easy to dodge if you can anticipate it. In the brief moment before his attack lands, there is second of "bullet-time". Dodge then. If you try to dodge beforehand, he'll get you coming out of your roll. This particular move is only avoidable with a perfect dodge, which is why they give you that window.

Ok I've not seen anyone talk about this, but you can miss an interesting curio on this stage. You have to go right stay as close to the wall and run around the lake and you'll find it. I think it's a stamina one, can't remember.

Damn bro your tips are spot on, mine doesn't finish the same as you like you still have a lot of health and gourd. Me I'm most of the time photo finish in the end last strand of hp no more gourd or any spells just relied on dodging and button smashing the light attack. 🤣
