I don't think applying hydro or do any kind of hydro reaction make that true dmg explosion, because hydro slum always have hydro apply to them and you can't apply hydro on already existed one and also because they already have hydro on them, hydro with hydro can't do any reactions. Probably it happend when you use your skill abd/or burst then using normal atk, if you asked how I figured it out I used my already existing eyes and brain and watch it and think about it. Use this next time maybe it help you to figure it stuff easier and faster.
