A gentleman from Milwaukee has one and he would fly over Edgerton, Wisconsin, (25 miles south of Madison Wi), because he knew a WWII veteran who actually flew one during the war. He would also fly it over the golf course really, really.
low whenever he was there. I will never, ever forget the sound that plane made. You could hear that thing coming towards us a long, long ways away. I don't think most people realize how big the propeller is on the P51. It is massive when you see it in person. Its like DAMN!! Look at the of that prop!

years ago i had to take my daughter in law to the store, so she could get a birthday cake. i said i would wait in the parking lot, and glad i did. it was a nice summer day, and had the windows rolled down, when i heard the sound of an airplane, that's not heard very often. i looked up in the direction of the sound, then a few seconds later a P-51D comes flying overhead to land at the airport, a few miles away. it was a thing of beauty, a flying work of art, a masterpiece
