I don't need to write a whole lot of stuff for this, but suffice to say without the influence of #BernardPurdie we wouldn't have Vulfpeck. He became a primary source of influence over a young Jack Stratton as he was growing up. Then on a fateful day in the summer of 2016, Bernard made a tweet on Twitter saying he enjoyed Vulfpeck's music. Needless to say, this got Jack and the band super pumped. It opened a dialog that led to the 4-night stint in New York City & Brooklyn.

This 4-part retrospective features all the songs Purdie played with the band those four nights; a mix of songs he is associated with during his career and Vulfpeck's own originals. It was an epic feat that still has reverberations to this day.

It's so amazing that Purdie caught so many of the little nuances of Beastly although that was the first time he'd played it. I mean, it's to be expected from freaking Bernard Purdie, but it's still extremely impressive. The ears and feel on that man <3!

When I was a kid I learned the solo to Kid Charlemagne, but the record skipped in the same place each time...so 40 years later i only know half the solo.
