If you have the same variable on both sides would you still simplify it???

For the final time it is 16 because according to PEDMAS the distributive property is a property for the (M) of PEMDAS meaning that 8/2*(2+2) is 16 because nether multiplying or dividing will not have higher priority over each other meaning that you go left to right getting 16. Not 1. Now I’d like to say 1 can be possible but it has more problems since of the PEMDAS and properties systems in math.
