The Hogwarts Express left Platform 9¾ from King's Cross station to mark the first day of the wizarding term.

Lucky pupils took part in a countdown to 11am to before they returned to Hogwarts

Thousands of Harry Potter fans went to the station for the occasion with another cohort of wizards ready to learn the magical ways of the wizarding world.

Disappointed. It should have been like the standard announcements. "The train now standing on platform 9¾ is the 1100 Hogwarts Express service to Hogsmeade, calling at Hogsmeade only. A trolley service of drinks and light refreshments is available on this service. Would passengers intending to travel on this service please join the train now, as it is ready to leave.
