Intro To Pandas Shift

In this video we work with the shift function within a python pandas dataframe. We look at how to move data up, down, left, right and replace the values the were moved (which can be NaN) with values of the users choosing.

Can you explain more about the uses of shift? Functionally it makes sense, but why would someone use it? You briefly touched on it at the end, but a data analysis example might cement it in well.
