Since you love this salvia, give salvia amistad, salvia black and blue or salvia amante a try. The colors are stunning, the blooms are bountiful and the hummingbirds will love you for planting them.

I love this Thank you for doing this. I have a small garden in zone 7a, and of course, I do my own research before buying plants, but I like that you will have a quick reference list for us. I really appreciate that you include what animals that the plants are resistant to. Many other garden channels skip over this piece of information. I deal with both deer and rabbits and I have had to pull out quite a few plants because the rabbits and deer munched on them. I adore your channel!!!! It is informative and FUN for amateur gardeners like me.

I so agree, I love this plant. Survived the hard freeze and this year's extreme heat in Texas. The bumblebees and hummingbirds love it too! Plus it's disease and pest resistant.

I have four of these in my garden and they are beautiful! Last year I decided to rearrange my plants and, as you said, the stems are very brittle and I ended up breaking several. Be careful when you handle these. I also brought 2 plants inside for the winter just to be safe. It turned out that all four survived my winter in zone 7b even though we reached single digits for a couple of days. Love Mystic Spires!

One of my favorites as well! My zone is 10b and it NEVER stops blooming. I especially love seeing the hummers enjoy the flowers!

I have one i planted 4 years ago. Just prune the old wood out every autumn and it blooms all through winter for me. So gorgeous

I stumbled upon Mystic Blue Spires at my local nursery in April 2022. This has been a fabulous preformer in my Southern California, zone 10, garden.

Good morning. Thank you for all your information on this lovely perennial. I have to agree that it is a gorgeous plant and with the color of the blooms when it is in front of any color of green or darker shades of color the color just pops and it looks like it is in a 3D picture. Enjoy the perennial and hope to see it more in your gardens whether just for planting for bouquets or for just filling in the garden. Enjoy the rest of your day and looking for many other information on other perennials or annuals.

Such a great idea 💡
I love the way you put the profile up on the screen. You should be very proud of yourself for coming up with this. I've watched other gardening videos and as they plant the plant they skim over the whats, what of it, but this is a much better way of explaining the plants profile. Thank you!

Last Summer (2023) we planted 3 Mystic Blue Salvia in zone 9A. Those babes are a beast of a beauty! None stop show of color! IDK when to deadhead yet - and the big bees 🐝 romance them on the regular. Planting more this year.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I have moved to a new home with a naked lawn. I have been dreaming of a cut flower garden and have been scrolling through YouTube trying to learn about cut flower gardening. 💕💐🌸🌺🌹🌷🌻🌼

I'm sure this playlist will be watched, a lot. I have black and blue salvia throughout my garden, I'll be on the look out for mystic now. I'm zone 7b, I don't do anything to black and blue, it spread itself around, and comes back too. Altho, I do think it stinks.

Janey, I'm not sure which blue salvia variety that I have, but they are annual in my growing zone. Lucky for me, they will reseed themselves. I've only purchased them one year, but I get new seedlings in the same area each spring. At least now that I know what the seedlings look like, I don't weed them out when planting in that area! Have a wonderful weekend! ~Margie🐝💐🦋😊

I'm so glad you announced the Mysty Spires version! I wasn't aware! Would LOVE to get my hands on a more compact version of Mystic Blue!
These are, hands down, one of the top work horses in a mild climate garden! Bloom like crazy, always covered in bees, only fussy if the soil stays too moist over time. I have moved mine about 4 times in the last 5 years, it has kept trucking without missing a beat! Mine is starting to die out in the center now, so I want to try my hand at dividing if it's possible! Always trying new things in the garden to learn!

Hi Janey, I love love love this idea of you constructing a catalog/profile of plants...making it easier for the rest of us. At the moment I have notes scattered everywhere of the plants I want to try/have...so you are providing a great service. Thank you.

That's a great idea, Janey! I look forward to seeing all the plants you highlight in your Playlist. I also love Salvia. The plant I have definitely needs to be deadheaded but it is easy to do except I need to watch out for the bees when doing it. Last year I had a beautiful yellow wave petunia in front of my dark blue Salvia and the contrast looked so beautiful. I was so sad when I came out to look at it and my whole petunia plant was gone, the gopher took the whole thing! That's the other nice thing about Salvia, gophers don't eat them. Enjoy your weekend, head for the coast! 😎😁
