Hey!

Welcome back to my channel, in this video I'm attempting to respond to a call of action from a previous video I made on glueing clear plastic with no marks.

This time I tried to glue face to face to answer your comments. I hope this is helpful and you too can glue clear plastic pieces together successfully.

Please check out the following link for the UV resin glue I used from Adhesive Brokers, High Wycombe, UK. Do ask for AB1001.

For Tesa Red clear tape you can buy it from the following:

Good luck and all the best for the upcoming projects you have.

You can follow me on Instagram @iamjustamodelmaker and if you have any questions do drop me a line.

Ciao

So....from what I’ve seen Polygel or builder gel in hard or soft and lastly acrylic has decent clear options. All of these are used in the beauty industry for nails to actually extend the length of your nails however acrylic nails have time limitations and terrible smell from the monomer but the clears have come a long way and really are clear for both the gels and acrylics! Some have higher viscosity than others ranging from super thick that needs to be 100% manipulated to self leveling and roughly 20% manipulation. Can be made thinner or more mailable with alcohol or a slip solution. Cleans up with alcohol and is cured using a handheld UV black light or like one of the lights you used. The reason why I mention this is because 1. In the nail beauty industry, clear gel polish, builder gel or Polygel (hybrid gel) is to determine if your products are sellable or not. Any Amount of cloudiness isn’t tolerated. Clear tips are used the majority of the time with the clear gel or acrylic on top and you can’t tell if tips were used for extra support or for conserving time. Either way they can be seen when used together plus it’s super inexpensive on Amazon for sale to the public. No nail tech license needed.
Edit: also an unlimited range of colors, effects, and better yet a gel or powder that’s moldable by hand or with tools that is used to make adornments or tiny charms. So if you don’t have what you need you can use one of those and then a file or dremil drill or sand paper to file or sand off the excess or into the shape you need.

Gorilla clear glue is an adhesive with time to work with two pieces for alignment if needed. It cures buy moisture so using a damp towel on an edge then press into place. Weight or clamps work great and fully cures in 24 hours, water resistance but not designed to be constantly wet. Part # 4500102 is worth trying as sold in home improvement stores in the US. No “UV” light required and rated from -40 degrees F to 180 degrees F. It’s about $6.00.

I’ve been a model builder for many years. Mostly cars and planes but I did do a large USS Constitution ship model, really fun doing the rigging. Question I have is there an easier way to glue car windshields without getting glue on the clear parts? Thank you for your videos.

@Iamjustamodelmaker thank you for the great tips. I am curious about your wristwatch, I am far sighted and have a hard time seeing the small numbers on my watch so I noticed yours has easy to read face and wondered what is the brand. Thanks for any reply.

Great video. been experimenting with this myself and getting the bad end of the results :) That AB1001 seems to be the magic stuff! I'm planning on curing a couple larger sheets together 500 x 500mm. How well you think this method will work

Will you be able to see the uv resin glue spots if I just use a dab on each corner of the acrylic instead of covering the entire surface area? I want to protect a decal between 2 pieces of acrylic and don't want to ruin the decal or make the ink run.

Do you think this would work for bonding acrylic to MDF? We want to cover a large poster that's on MDF board & need it to dry clear
