This was the moment when Malcolm learned that you can fight oppression from a place that isn't hate. What a transformation.

I am surprised that Denzel Washington wasn't nominated for an Oscar in this role. Great performance and acting.

As a muslim, this part of the film is the most beautiful to watch. For all the tough moments in his life that Brother Malcom had gone through and was still going through, it puts a smile on my face to see that in the midst of that he was able to have experienced this just a year before he returned to Allah. May Allah have mercy on him and grant him a high rank in Jannah❤️

"I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against." Malcolm X

I love how Spike Lee sent out an all-Muslim second unit to shoot in Mecca. It was the first non-documentary and American film to do that.

“There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab, or of a non-Arab over an Arab, and no superiority of a white person over a black person or of a black person over a white person, except on the basis of personal piety and righteousness.” An Arab Prophet who came from an ignorant Arabic tribal city which held slaves said this in the 7th century. Prophet Muhammad, may peace and God's blessings be upon him.

He had to travel abroad and break bread with his true brothers in order to comprehend that those who he’d been breaking bread with ALL along (the ones who looked exactly like him no less) were his enemies. Very powerful scene.

The true transformation of a man from being a sinner to a saint. The hardest pill to swallow is one of self reflection.
